Aurum Foundation

At the present time Aurum Foundation is engaged in the following projects:

• Home Health Education and Community Care Initiative
  
  
  • Lectures and workshops by doctors, nurses and therapists on achieving and maintaining health using natural and Anthroposophical products and methods, including artistic therapy, curative eurythmy, and other adjunctive therapies.
  • Fostering cooperative support within the community based on these methods as well as fostering the inherent non-medical healing resources within the community.
  • Each year Aurum sponsors a daylong workshop entitled "Caring For common Illnesses At Home". The workshop provides instruction for both lay persons and health professionals in the basic care of illness in a home setting, emphasizing the use of external applications such as compresses, wraps and medicinal baths. This kind of care has a profound effect on the ability of the soul and spirit to function well within the body. Working with these therapies can change our understanding of what it is to be a human being and sheds considerable light on the human principles that underlie the work of Waldorf education.
  • The workshops on practical skills in home care are for health professionals as well as lay persons.

  
  

• Helping Hearts and Hands

  Helping Hearts and Hands is an initiative to:

  • provide financial help for people who need assistance in gaining access to necessary health services or products
  • provide spiritual and emotional support to those who are ill.

  The Helping Hearts and Hands Fund has been quite active recently. For example, it has helped a person receive the Anthroposophical medicine that had been prescribed for her but which she could not afford. With Aurum’s help she was able to get the remedies she needed, and within a short time her condition had improved so much that she didn't need to continue with them for as long as previously thought. Here is what she wrote in a letter to Aurum.

  "I am doing so well and out in the world more because I feel better. ... I think of Aurum everyday with gratitude for all you've done for me. Not only is my health improved this year, due to God’s healing remedies and my hard work and healers like you. But I notice the change in my greater capacity to love and be loved."

  In keeping with this spirit, the Helping Hearts and Hands Fund has also received some help from a couple of sources. For the past two years a local company has made a generous annual donation, and very recently a friend whose mother passed away requested donations be made in her name to the Helping Hearts and Hands Fund in lieu of flowers. These gifts have helped to expand our resources and we will be able to support a few more requests in the coming year.



• Threshold Work
  
  
  • Support to the dying and their family, and the care and preparation of the body after death.
  • The Aurum Foundation has also created a container of materials and instructions for preparation of the body. The kit is loaned to families in our region.
